Magic is a force in the world. However, humans can seldom tap into its mostly chaotic nature, and those that do will, for the most part, find it probably not worth the hassle. The magic is chaotic, untrusting of human hands and so unwilling to obey, and only those who dedicate their lives to its mastery can safely harness its pure energy.

The main branches of magic, as available to humans, consist of the constant elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water.

Very rarely, however, a human will be born with a magical affinity. While this may sound like a blessing, there are often changes in what can be done: the magic works differently for them. Because of their inate ability to harness the energy, the energy itself responds differently, and works differently, than it would for a regular person. Often times those who are born with an affinity for, say, air, or water, or even perhaps both, find that they cannot move water or create wind, but instead can do somethign entirely different. The way the magic responds to their abilities varies with each one, but in general the capabilities to affect physical laws, tamper with natural processes, and influence the spatial levels of energy present become possible.

There are also branches of magic that humans cannot do. These most often are composed of magic used by demons, such as Incubi and Succubi, as well as by Wraiths, Hellions, or other supernatural creatures. Such powers include Dreamwalking, artificial seduction, and Shadowwalking.
